North Catasauqua: Holy Trinity Memorial Lutheran Church plans two-day event

Holy Trinity Memorial Lutheran Church, 604 Pine St., Catasauqua, will be holding a basket raffle 4-7 p.m. Oct. 3 and 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Oct. 4. Winners will be notified by mail.

St. John Fisher Roman Catholic Church, 1239 Third St., will hold a blessing of the pets noon Oct. 5 on the green area next to the church parking lot. Animals must be under control by their owners via a leash, cage or carrier.

This blessing will be held rain or shine.

Catasauqua Youth Athletic Association has open registration for boys and girls basketball for grades 1-8 and basketball cheer sign-ups for ages 8-15, planned for 9-10:30 a.m. Oct. 5, 6-7 p.m. Oct. 8 and 9-10:30 a.m. Oct. 13 at the CYAA field house, 890 Walnut St., Catasauqua.

There is a uniform deposit and registration cost. There will be a mandatory fundraiser per athlete or buyout option required.

The next borough council meeting will take place 7 p.m. Oct. 6 in the basement-level meeting room at borough hall, 1066 Fourth St.

Presbyterian Church of Catasauqua, 210 Pine St., will hold its monthly food drive 10 a.m.-noon Oct. 10 in the parking lot. Nonperishable food items will be accepted to benefit Catasauqua Area Food Bank.

Holy Trinity Memorial Lutheran Church is sponsoring a spaghetti dinner fundraiser, planned for Oct. 11 at the church. The seatings are set for 4:30 p.m., 5 p.m., 5:30 p.m. and 6 p.m.

Catasauqua Community Thrift Shop, 113 Bridge St., continues its bag sale on everything through Oct. 11.

The shop will be closed Oct. 13-15 for cleaning and the seasonal changeover of clothing. The shop will reopen with all new clothing Oct. 16.

The shop is happy to accept donations of good used clean clothing, household items and toys during store hours, which are 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays and 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Wednesdays and Saturdays.

The 18th annual Best of North Catasauqua Autumnfest will take place Oct. 12 at North Catasauqua William J. Albert Memorial Park, 701 Grove St., beginning 11 a.m. The rain date is Oct. 18.

There will be live music on the band stand with Flirtin’ with the Mob 1-5 p.m. There will also be food, a craft vendor market, a bounce house for kids, face painting, balloon figures for kids, raffles, finger printing for kids by the police department and a classic car show.

St. Mary’s Catholic Church is running a bus trip to the National Centre for Padre Pio Oct. 13. The full habit of St. Pio, directly from Italy, will be in the United States for the first time and is available for veneration for three days.

The bus will leave St. John Fisher Catholic Church, 1239 Third St., promptly 8 a.m. The group will depart 2 p.m.

St. John Fisher Roman Catholic Church is having a chicken dinner fundraiser. Order forms and payment are due by Oct. 17. Pickup will be 4-6 p.m. Oct. 27 in the church hall.

The dinners, made by Kauffman’s BBQ, include half of a chicken, baked potato, coleslaw and cookies. There is a cost.

A trunk or treat will be hosted by Catasauqua Youth Athletic Association 6-8 p.m. Oct. 18 at 890 Walnut St., Catasauqua. Most creative costume wins a prize.

St. Mary’s Catholic Church will hold a fall cash bingo Oct. 19 in the parish center. The doors and the kitchen open 11:30 a.m., with bingo beginning 1 p.m.

Presbyterian Church of Catasauqua will hold its next free community lunch 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Oct. 20 at the church.

In addition, the church is also accepting donations for the Roughie Pantry. The pantry is accepting shampoo, deodorant, toothpaste, toothbrushes, soap, body wash, tampons, sanitary napkins, etc.

The 2025 North Catasauqua/Catasauqua Halloween parade will take place 7 p.m. Oct. 22. This year will feature a new parade route. The rain date is Oct. 29.

The Halloween parade committee is seeking private donations of any size to help defray the cost of the event. Checks can be made payable to North Catasauqua/Catasauqua Halloween parade and mailed to North Catasauqua Borough, c/o the Halloween parade, 1066 Fourth St., North Catasauqua, 18032.

St. Mary’s Catholic Church is hosting a GriefShare workshop on surviving the holidays 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Nov. 1.

This is a community of people who know what it’s like to walk through the holidays in grief. You will find connection and comfort in knowing you’re not alone this season.

The church is honored to again welcome Judy Plica, longtime GriefShare facilitator from Berks County, to hold this event.

North Catasauqua Police Association will host its annual free veterans breakfast 8-10 a.m. Nov. 8 at the Masonic Lodge, 1103 Sixth St. There will be an opening ceremony, which includes the playing of the national anthem and invocation.
