The BASD senior college application fair held Sept. 18 gave both Liberty and Freedom high school seniors an opportunity to learn more about potential postsecondary education choices upon their graduation in 2026.
Two sessions, one at Liberty’s gym in the morning, and the other at Freedom’s gym in the afternoon, offered about 50 tables staffed with recruiters from various schools. Many students filled out ‘inquiry cards’ as an initial step in deciding where they would like to attend.
Joana Rodriguez, an admissions counselor at Widener University, says her school can receive two, 20 or 50 inquiries depending on the fair. Christina Menn, associate director of undergraduate admissions at Marywood University, said that there had been a good response at both schools.
Local and nonlocal colleges, technical schools, HBCUs and universities participated, giving the senior students a variety of options.
Freedom senior Michael Sloman interacts with Ryan Murphy, assistant director of admissions at Kutztown University. Sloman says he is undecided about where he will attend.
Moravian University senior assistant director of admissions, Sarah Hucaluk, discusses opportunities at Moravian with several Freedom seniors.
Freedom seniors Fatima Ali and Callie Broderick meet with Penn State University transfer admissions counselor, Joe Scwartz. Ali intends to major in nursing and Broderick in psychology.
