Sept. 25

The Upper Milford Historical Society will host a talk by Mike Jesberger on the final words of military leaders. The free program starts 7 p.m. at the Upper Milford Township municipal building, 5671 Chestnut St., Old Zionsville.

Second Harvest Food Bank of the Lehigh Valley will host the event Take Action Against Hunger 5-8 p.m. at Black River Farms Winery, 2472 Black River Road, Bethlehem. Sept. 27

Pianist Patrick Kerssen will present music from the iconic 1965 movie musical “The Sound of Music” 1-2:15 p.m. at the Emmaus Public Library, 11 E. Main St., Emmaus. Lower Milford Township will host its 23rd annual Fall Festival 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the township building, 7606 Chestnut Hill Road. The festival is held rain or shine. Highlights will include an antique car and tractor show, music performances and a basket raffle to benefit the Lower Milford volunteer fire company. Parking is free. Sept. 30

The Hivel Und Dahl Preservation Society will host a program titled “The Forts of the Blue Mountains” 7 p.m. at the Upper Milford Township municipal building, 5671 Chestnut St., Old Zionsville. The program will highlight the forts built by the Pennsylvania Regiment in the 18th century. Admission to the program is free.

Oct. 2

The Emmaus Public Library will host its annual Community Heroes Day 6-7:30 p.m. in the library parking lost at 11 E. Main Str., Emmaus. Visitors will meet first responders, try on firefighter gear and tour police, fire and ambulance vehicles. The event is free and open to all ages. The rain date is Oct. 16.

Oct. 4

A Crazy About Quilting Celebration, presented by the Crazy Quilters Quilt Guild, is being held 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church, 4601 Tilghman St., Allentown. The celebration includes a display of 100+ quilts and quilted items, the sale of handmade quilted articles and recycled “stash” items and quilting demonstrations. Details at crazyquilters.org.

The Autumn Mineralfest is scheduled 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Macungie Memorial Park, 50 Poplar St., Macungie. The event will be held rain or shine. Grace Lutheran Church, 28 W. Main St., Macungie, will host its Free Apple Harvest Festival 1-4 p.m. Visitors will enjoy free hot dogs, popcorn, apple pie, ice cream and drinks as well as free games and prizes for children, face painting and cake walk. Oct. 7

The Emmaus Garden Club will present a floral design workshop featuring Holly Kirkland Clouser, an artist and floral designer who teaches floral design in the continuing education department at Longwood Gardens, noon at Bethel Bible Fellowship Church, 418 Elm St., Emmaus. All are welcome. Light refreshments will be served.

St. Mark’s UCC, 52 E. Susquehanna St., Allentown, will host its annual Bazaar and Basket Social 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Highlights include an outdoor flea market (weather permitting); homemade food, including pierogies and baked goods available for purchase to eat-in or to go; an attic treasure room, Christmas decorations room and gently used clothing room. All remaining clothing will go to the Allentown Rescue Mission (men’s) and the Sixth Street Shelter (women’s). Oct. 13

Upper Milford Western District Fire Company, 6341 Chestnut St., Zionsville, will host a chicken barbecue fundraiser 3-6 p.m. The menu includes a half chicken, baked potato and applesauce. The meal is takeout only. Visit the fire company website for details, contact information and ways to order.
