William C. Snyder

formerly of Schnecksville

William C. “Bill” Snyder, 97 of Whitehall, formerly of Schnecksville, died Sept. 13, 2025, at Fellowship Community in Whitehall. He was the son of the late Harvey Snyder and the late Mildred (Hornberger) Snyder. He was the husband of the late Lucille M. (Mantz) Snyder for 68 years.

He joined the U.S. Navy at the age of 18, serving for two years while helping to bring troops home at the end of World War II.

He was then hired by Western Electric Co., Allentown and worked as a chemical plater for 39 years, retiring in 1987. He played in the company’s intramural fast-pitch softball league for many years.

He and his wife were lifetime members of the Telephone Pioneers of America, with whom they went on many trips together and also participated in their mixed bowling league.

He was a lifelong New York Yankees fan. He was also fond of animals, showing his love throughout the years to many pet dogs and cats, especially Rusty.

He is survived by his children, son, Gregory and his wife, Lynn, of Macungie; daughter, Debra Berresford, of Whitehall; granddaughter, Jenna; grandson, Adam Berresford; great-grandsons, Liam and Hunter Berresford; nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a granddaughter, Stefanie Berresford; brother, Donald; half-brothers, John and Robert Edens.

A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Sept. 25 at Fellowship Community, Zentz Hall, 3000 Fellowship Drive, Whitehall. The family will receive friends 10-11 a.m.

Schisler Funeral Home, Northampton, has been entrusted with his care and services.
