Township sets trick or treat

The Whitehall Township Board of Commissioners voted 6-0 at the Sept. 8 meeting to set trick-or-treat night for 6-8 p.m. Oct. 31, with Nov. 1 as the rain date.

Board Vice President Jeffrey Warren expressed concerns about making trick-or-treat night the same night as the high school football games, believing that this takes parents and other families away from trick or treat.

“We lose a segment of families from the Whitehall school district that have to go to the football game on trick-or-treat night,” Warren said.

He had suggested the school district and township try to work together to schedule games not interfering with trick or treat. It was noted there’s no football game on Halloween night, but a playoff game could occur.

In other business, the board unanimously approved the recommendation of Antonio Cimerol to serve as the township emergency management coordinator.

The board also voted 6-0 on renovations for Parkview Pool in Hokendauqua. Approximately $160,000 in electrical upgrades are planned for all the buildings. The funds are being allocated from the township budget as a capital project.

The electrical upgrades are estimated to be completed by the spring of 2026.

A security camera system will also be installed, and the interior and exterior of the buildings will be painted. This work is estimated to be completed in the fall.
