Northwestern High School graduate
Richard D. Follweiler Sr., 80, of Kempton, died at home Sept. 18, 2025. He was the husband of Lucille E. (Biege), having celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary in July. Born in Kempton, he was the son of the late Luther J. and Erma (Ohl) Follweiler.
He was a Vietnam Veteran, having served his country in the U.S. Army from 1965-1967. He was a 1964 graduate of Northwestern High School in New Tripoli. He worked at Alpo in Allentown for 42 years until retirement. He was a member of Jacob’s Church in New Tripoli and a life member of Lynnport Fire Co.
He was a man of simple pleasures, a steadfast lover of the outdoors and someone whose hands were always busy, whether in the woods or working on his latest project at home. He had a unique hobby that brought him joy and a sense of fulfillment – the restoration and repair of concrete animal lawn ornaments. He also enjoyed visiting the local casino and traveling cross-country with his wife.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons, Richard D. Jr., of Coplay, and Steven A. (Tina), of Centennial, Colo.; granddaughter, Riley; brother, Roy (Sandra), of Kempton; several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his brother, Ralph.
