Raymond Baker, 86, formerly of Emmaus, died peacefully Sept. 7, 2025. He was the husband of Carolee (Baringer) Baker for 59 years. Born in Perth Amboy, N.J., he was the son of the late Louis Frank and Adele (Bergdahl) Baker.
He graduated in 1961 from Lehigh University with a degree in electrical engineering. He played the trombone in the Lehigh marching band and also enjoyed playing the piano. He became a fan of Lehigh football and Lehigh wrestling.
He worked as an electrical engineer for Western Electric for more than 30 years, retiring in the 1990s.
He was a member of The Lutheran Church of the Holy Spirit.
He was an avid skier and a member of the Jack Frost Ski Patrol for more than 25 years and enjoyed helping seniors with taxes through AARP. He enjoyed playing bridge, gardening, photography and traveling throughout the world.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Glenn Baringer; daughter, Karen Baker Heppell and her husband, Jonathan C. Heppell; grandchildren, Elise B. Heppell and Anika B. Heppell.
A celebration of his life will be held 2 p.m. Sept. 27 at The Lutheran Church of the Holy Spirit, 3461 S. Cedar Crest Blvd., Emmaus, 18049. Receiving 1:30-2 p.m. in the church. A social gathering will immediately follow the service.
Arrangements are entrusted to Schantz Funeral Home, P.C., Emmaus.
