Hokendauqua: Halloween season events soon underway in township

Whitehall Fire Department will hold its annual Haunted Hayride in the Parkway program at Whitehall Parkway, 4689 S. Church St., Oct. 3, 4, 10, 11, 17, 18, 24, 25 and 31 and Nov. 1, all 7-11 p.m. There will be free parking and refreshments available.

There is a cost. Children ages 5 and under can attend for free. Discount coupons are available at whitehallfd.org.

Also, the department’s Haunted Parkway trick-or-treat event is planned for 2-5 p.m. Oct. 11 at the parkway. There is no charge for kids dressed in costume; there is a cost for adults.

Participants will enjoy face painting, food, music, mini cow visits and a basket raffle.

From 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 18, there will be a car show trunk or treat at Schadt Avenue Playground, 1975 Schadt Ave. The event includes free admission, food trucks, cool cars and spooky trunks. Costumes are encouraged.

Organizers of the event, sponsored by Sports Factory of the Lehigh Valley, are looking for individuals, businesses and organizations to volunteer to decorate a trunk. Attendees are asked to arrive 1 p.m. to set up.

Trick-or-treat night in Whitehall will be 6-8 p.m. Oct. 31, with a rain date of Nov. 1. Have fun, and be safe!

Reminder: The Whitehall High School Class of 1978 will have a 65th birthday celebration noon-7 p.m. Sept. 27 at the pavilion at Egypt Memorial Park, Hillcrest Lane and Curt Simmons Drive.

There is a cost per person, which includes hamburgers, hot dogs, snacks, water and music. Attendees are asked to bring a covered dish or dessert to share.

The event is BYOB and wine only — no glass bottles.

Registration for Hokendauqua Park and Playground Association’s basketball for the 2025-26 season is open at hokeypark.com/registration.

Volunteer coaches are needed for spring, summer, fall and winter youth athletics.

Pink Pumpkins Coins 4 Chemo will have a Bags and Bucks Bingo Bash and Harvest Fest 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Oct. 18 at Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church, 3355 MacArthur Road. There will be a basket raffle, bingo with cash and purse prizes, a 50/50 raffle, pumpkin patch, children’s activities, vendors, food and more.

Whitehall Township, state Rep. Jeanne McNeill and state Sen. Nick Miller are hosting a free paper shredding event, set for 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Nov. 8 at the township municipal complex, 3219 MacArthur Road. You can bring up to five boxes or bags of personal and financial information for shredding.

This event is for residents in Whitehall, Coplay and Catasauqua.
