Gail J. Abernathy, 86, of Catasauqua, died Sept. 4, 2025, at Lehigh Valley Hospice in Allentown.

Formally of upstate New York and born in Endicott, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Walter and Mabel Champlain.

She worked in retail for a variety of Lehigh Valley businesses, most recently at Walmart in Whitehall.

She is survived by two sons, Jack Mahoney and wife Barbara and Gary; a daughter, Anne M. Hibshman and husband Joel; five grandchildren, Alysha, Emily, Rachel, Matthew and Kristin; and a great-grandchild, Angelina and one on the way.

She was predeceased by two brothers; and three sisters.

There will be a memorial service with reception 2:30 p.m. Sept. 27 at Union Lutheran Church Family Life Center, 5500 Route 873, Schnecksville, 18078.
