Zephs set for game vs. K-Kids
Four games into the season, Whitehall’s football team has simply stuck with the basics for their 3-1 start this season. Their team chemistry has helped, too.
The Zephyrs dismantled Pocono Mountain East, 45-13, and they came off a 62-21 thumping of East Stroudsburg South. Their lone blemish has been a 63-33 loss to Nazareth
Friday night, they will travel across the bridge to Northampton to battle the Konkrete Kids in their annual Cement Bowl Classic.
Head coach Andy Marino has watched his club play to a high level.
“Our guys have been playing for each other,” said Marino.” They are executing their assignments, and that’s been big reasons for our success.
Defensively, we’ve been able to create turnovers and playing good team defense.
Junior quarterback Tanner Dogmanits threw for 339 yards and had four touchdowns. He also ran for a scores.
Dogmanits couldn’t have asked for a better current situation.
“The offense is clicking really well right now,” stressed Dogmanits. “Our run game and pass game are doing really well and it all starts with the guys up front.”
His confidence has reached a new level. He knows there will be a heightened atmosphere at Northampton Friday night.
“I feel more comfortable out there on the field each week,” added Dogmanits. “Northampton is a week we look forward too, especially since they beat us last year and it’s a rivalry. They are a good team so it starts with having a great week of practice.
“Tanner has taken a step forward with his leadership and decision-making,” said Marino. “The offensive line deserves a ton of credit too; they’ve been physical and consistent, which makes everything else go.”
Marino anticipates a tussle Friday night.
“Northampton is a tough, physical, and well-coached team,” said Marino. “We look forward to playing them.”
