Roughie Roundup Cross country; girls win

The Catasauqua cross country teams competed in a meet last week.

The girls split four meets, falling to Palmerton 18-37 and Jim Thorpe 25-30, but beating Northern Lehigh 15-50 and Lehighton 15-50.

The boys fell to Palmerton 16-45 and Lehighton 18-43, but defeated Northern Lehigh 15-50 and Jim Thorpe 15-50.

For the girls, Shakal Roberts took 25th to lead the way. Her time was 24:15.77. Northwestern’s Rosalia Nestor was the top finisher with a time of 18:34.60.

For the boys, Evan Reed led the way for Catty. He had a time of 19:35.51 which gave him 28th. Southern Lehigh’s Miles Etters was the winner with a time of 15:57.30.

The Catty field hockey team was a 2-1 winner over Saucon Valley Tuesday.

Catty got off to a 2-0 start and was winning by that score at halftime.

Ava Wetzel and Shelby Haldeman each scored a goal. Dakota Veles assisted on Haldeman’s goal.

Saucon’s goal came from Lauren Hawk.

Lizzy Bass made seven saves in the win for Catty. Saucon’s Lillian Wiegand made six saves.

The team dropped a recent game to Palisades 4-1.

Julia Byers, Hannah Gibson, Wren Pyle and Lucinda Stevens all scored for the Pirates.

Catty’s goal came from Dakota Velas.

Lizzy Bass made 24 saves for the Rough Riders.

The boys soccer team suffered some recent loses.

The team dropped games to Notre Dame 3-0, Southern Lehigh 7-1 and to Moravian Academy 6-1.
