Parkland tennis improves to 11-0

With the end of the season less than a week away, Parkland was one of two unbeaten girls tennis teams left in the East Penn Conference.

The Trojans beat Freedom and Allentown Central Catholic last week to improve to 11-0 in EPC matches and 11-1 overall.

In a 6-1 win over Freedom Friday, Parkland’s Sadie Pollard and Sonia Lee both won singles matches, while the doubles teams of Kiana Miles and Yihan Li; Kate Gilchrist and Hannah Schmoyer; Ariana Tahir and Syrien Alvin; and Mehek Garg and Maheen Jan all won matches against the Patriots.

Parkland beat Central 7-0 with Lexie Warsing, Pollard and Lee taking singles matches. Miles/Li, Gilchrist/Schmoyer; Tahir/Alvin; and Garg/Jan all earned doubles wins in the match, which was played last Wednesday, Sept. 10.

The Trojans still have some challenging matches left this season, including the season finale that could determine whether Parkland or Emmaus (12-0) finishes the season as unbeaten league champs.

This week the Trojans take on Nazareth, which has just one loss this season, along with Stroudsburg and a nonleague meeting with Moravian Academy.

Parkland travels to Emmaus to finish the season on Sept. 22.
