NW MIDDLE SCHOOL MIXER Sacks, sharks and musical chairs

Northwestern Lehigh Middle School hosted its annual sixth grade mixer Sept. 5. Sixth grade students were invited to stay after school for an afternoon of fun while getting to know their classmates. Parents and guardians could help by signing up to lead a game station or donating supplies. The mixer featured about 10 game stations led by parent volunteers, including relay races, sack races, sharks and minnows, musical chairs, and no hands Oreo eating. Laughter and cheer filled the air as students rotated through the stations.

The event marked a significant milestone in the merger of the Weisenberg Elementary and Northwestern Elementary sixth grade classes into a single unified middle school class. Administrators recognize the importance of fostering relationships among students so they brought everyone together in a fun low-pressure setting, hoping for a smooth transition into middle school. It was the perfect opportunity for kids to get to know each other in relaxed surroundings creating a comfortable environment for everyone to get excited about the new school year.s

It seems to be a successful transition so far, with students already forming strong bonds and a sense of camaraderie. Lenka P., Riley W., Kymber P., Clowie W., and McKenzie L. get ready for their parents to pick them up.

Students enjoyed laughing and playing games at the mixer. Principal Bill Dovico joined the fun and accompanied Marley G. at the Oreo station. They tried to get cookies from their foreheads into their mouths without using their hands.
Holly L. found a big grasshopper and gave it a tour of the area. It even went with her to the name game station before taking off.
Brooke K., Savannah P., and Izzy B. were amongst the last few playing musical chairs as their classmates watched. When they tied, rock paper scissors was played to determine who continued.
