K-Kid Roundup: Moyer fourth; boys soccer falls
Northampton’s Derek Moyer finished fourth in Monday’s EPC Golf Championship, which was held at Geart Bear Golf Course.
Moyer shot a 76, which was behind three Nazareth players: Dan Mohap, the winner who shot a 73 ahead of teammate Brady Rohn’s 73. Holden Sparks, also a Blue Eagle, shot a 74 to take third.
New head coach Doug Fehnel was happy to see Moyer play well.
“Derek had a nice tournament. He has been in the mix at the top all year in the EPC. He is a great kid and a hard worker at practice and on the course,” Fehnel said. “He is always looking to help out the young golfers as well. I am excited to see how his season finishes up. He has already qualified for districts. We will look to make some noise next week at the district qualifier at NCC.”
Both C.J. Stumpf and Andrew Eberts shot 86 for the Kids.
Whitehall was led by Jack Lloyd who shot a 94 for the Zephs.
On Sept. 10, the Kids finished their golf season with a win over Bangor 396-467.
The Kids finished their season 12-4 under Fehnel.
“It has been a great first year for me at the helm for Northampton golf,” Fehnel said. “We have a lot of young talent on the team this year. [Former coach] Brian Davies has been a big help with logistics and my assistant, Matt Durich, has been a great help with the team at all the practices and matches.”
Against Bangor, Moyer led the way with a 77. Stumpf and Eberts each had 78 and Miller a 79. Fry had an 84.
Collin Enright and Chase Bodnar had 97s. Justice Flores had a 102.
