Becahi, Freedom struggle in losses

There was plenty of excitement for Bethlehem Catholic’s showdown with Easton last weekend, but ultimately it became an Easton show at BASD Stadium, as the Rovers handled the Hawks 35-9.

The Rovers ran for 280 yards on the night, led by Chris Martinez’s 178 yards and a touchdown. Quarterback Cole Ordway added 91 yards and two scores to cap off a dominating performance by the undefeated Rovers (4-0).

Bethlehem Catholic (3-1) got their first taste of defeat with last week’s lopsided result, as they get ready for this Saturday’s Holy War at Central Catholic (2-2).

Freedom (1-3) continued to slide last week following a 56-21 defeat to Nazareth (4-0).

The Blue Eagles led 42-21 at halftime before closing out the contest with a pair of second half touchdowns.

Nazareth’s compiled a whopping 720 yards of offense in the win, completing a forgettable night for the Pates.

Lashawn Johnson was the most consistent aspect of the Freedom offense, rushing for 162 yards and a touchdown.

The Pates travel to J. Birney Crum this week to play a 3-1 Allen team this week, as they look to get back in the win column.

Freedom hosts East Stroudsburg South (1-3) next week with both of these contests shaping up to be vital to help them right the ship.
