Public Library of Catasauqua: Library plans Sept. 18 program on Pa. Dutch boombas
Another beautiful September is here, and though the days are full of school and allergies, there’s still lots of fun to be had at the library!
This month, we have a special edition of our regular Thursday reading and activity program for kids — boombas are coming to the library Sept. 18. The traditional Pennsylvania Dutch musical instrument will be demonstrated for us by experts.
Kids of all ages are invited to enjoy the wonder of boombas in action.
As always, our Thursday program is 4 p.m.

Harry Potter will also be here in September, as we celebrate going back to school and the beginning of spooky season, with a showing of the movie “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone” starting 11 a.m. Sept. 27.
Come out for some wizarding fun at the library, where things are always magical and the popcorn is free.
***
Ulysses S. Grant will be at the library Oct. 1 for a special history talk and performance. Join us as Glenn Eckhart brings the Civil War legend to life in our auditorium. The performance begins 7 p.m.
Tickets, which benefit the library, can be purchased ahead of time at the library.

Our raffle in the books versus movies survey is almost here. Don’t miss your chance to win a gift certificate to Pie’s On Pizzeria.
Come down and tell us which books made better movies and vice versa.

The library’s Minecraft and Gaming Club meets every other Saturday. Our next gathering will be 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Sept. 20. It is free, and there will be help for new players ages 8 and up.
***
The Keep Them In Stitches fiber arts group meets 5:30 p.m. Mondays for fellowship and crocheting, knitting, etc.
***
The adult book group meets 3 p.m. the first Wednesday of each month. Call the library for the title of the next book club selection.
