Richard S. Daniel, 72, of Whitehall, died suddenly at home Sept. 2, 2025. He was the husband of Jacquelyn M. Daniel for 37 years.

Born in Lehigh County, he was a son of the late Harry V. and Pauline G. (Sesulka) Daniel.

He retired as a railroad engineer for Norfolk Southern and earlier in life worked for the PB&NE Railroad at Bethlehem Steel.

He was the former treasurer of United Transportation Union.

He was a member of Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church, Whitehall.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Amy L. Schroeder with husband Michael; two sons, David J. Penchishen with wife Sherri and Eric J. Penchishen with wife Cindy; five grandchildren, Cody J., Stephen D. and Dylan J. Penchishen and Skylar D. and Haley M. Schroeder; and a great-grandson, Leeland J. Penchishen.

He was predeceased by a brother, Jackie.
