Liberty leading the way in field hockey

Liberty’s field hockey team got back into the win column over the weekend. The Hurricanes picked up wins on Friday and Saturday over Pocono Mountain East and Whitehall to improve their record to 4-3.

Maddie Roy and Emerson Dougherty each scored twice against the Cardinals in a 5-2 victory.

In a 4-1 win over Whitehall, Lily Weaver scored twice to lead the way.

Liberty plays Whitehall again this week, along with Salisbury and Nazareth on tap.

Freedom (2-1) has won two straight after losing to Bangor in their opener.

The Pates knocked off Pocono Mountain East 2-1 and Whitehall 1-0.

They have Easton, Emmaus and Bethlehem Catholic in a tough slate of games to start the week off.

Bethlehem Catholic (0-8) has struggled to get things going so far in the season, as the Hawks have only scored one goal through eight games.

They have Pocono Mountain West and Freedom this week.
