The no. 6-ranked Bloomsburg field hockey team opened the season with a 2-0, shutout victory over Bentley on Thursday afternoon.
Bloomsburg (1-0) stood tall defensively in the season-opener, holding the Falcons to just three shots. The Huskies outshot Bentley 5-0 in the opening half.
Midfielder Alyxandra Flick (Central Columbia) potted the Huskies first goal of the season halfway through the second quarter as a deflected pass into the shooting circle found the junior’s stick on the left side before beating the goaltender to break the deadlock.
Just under nine minutes into the third quarter, a corner for Bloomsburg gave the opportunity to double its lead. The insert found its way to Raegan Iasiello (Northampton) who sent a pass across the top of shooting circle to Sophie Lawler (Newport). A shot from Lawler deflected off the stick of Kendall Iasiello (Northampton) in front of the net and found its way past the goalie to make it 2-0.
