Harth optimistic for senior season at CHS
Beginning her senior year, Julia Harth has seen plenty of peaks and valley in her Catasauqua girls’ soccer career.
However, most of them have been valleys.
Over the last three seasons, the Rough Riders won a combined total of 10 games.
This season, Harth, a senior team captain, has an optimistic outlook. The Roughies posted a 5-12-1 slate last season, and she is confident her teammates can build on it this season.
Despite the loss of several key players from last year, Harth likes the club makeup.
“I knew it would be tough after losing the 2025 seniors,” she said. “But I see the team as optimistic just looking to have fun and improve throughout the season.”
Harth began playing the game at a young age, and it has developed into a passion.
“My parents put me in soccer when I was four,” she added. “I have stuck with it ever since. I really enjoy playing the game.”
Harth has realized her role.
“With my position as a center back and a captain on the team, I try my best to help my teammates,” she added. “I especially try to help with the freshman and players in new positions as I can pretty much see the whole field during a game.”
She also has easily adapted to have her father on the sidelines. Dave Harth took over as head coach last season.
“Growing up my dad had been the coach of my travel team so it was not really a shift for me when he began coaching our high school team,” said the younger Harth. “On the other side my teammates appear to love my dad coaching and it seems he has made a positive impact on the team as a whole.”
Harth plans on attending a four-year college next fall to pursue a medical career. In the meantime, she’ll look for any of the Roughies’ ailments. Catty entered this week with a 1-3 record and got back into action Tuesday against Moravian Academy.
