It was an undefeated weekend of football for Bethlehem teams with Freedom capping things off on Saturday night following a 38-27 win over Central Catholic.
It was the first victory of the season for Freedom (1-2), as Lashawn Johnson shined for the Pates.
He ran for 210 yards and scored four touchdowns, including two in the fourth quarter to help Freedom overcome a 27-24 third quarter deficit to pull out the much needed win.
Things don’t get any easier this week for the Pates, as they host undefeated Nazareth (3-0) on Friday night.
Liberty wide receiver Jake Pukszyn had a career night on Friday, hauling in six catches for 160 yards and five touchdowns in the Hurricanes 49-17 win over Stroudsburg.
Quarterback Antonio Fontanez completed 13-of-16 passes for 317 yards and six touchdowns in the route.
The Hurricanes (2-1) have won two straight and travel to Northampton on Friday.
Bethlehem Catholic (3-0) kept their record unblemished with a 48-41 win at Berks Catholic.
The Hawks led 41-13 late in the third quarter, but Berks Catholic made a run with the Hawk starters pulled out of the game to make things closer than they should have been.
Cayden Vassa accounted for four touchdowns on the night and threw for over 300 yards, as the Hawks look like one of the best teams in the area.
They host Easton Saturday night in a battle of undefeated teams left in the East Penn Conference.
