Coplay: Video Daze to perform Sept. 12

Coplay Saengerbund, 205 S. Fifth St., continues its summer concerts. The lineup for the Friday night concerts is Video Daze Sept. 12, Third Hand Band Sept. 19 and Stereotype Sept. 26.

The gates open 5 p.m., and the kitchen opens 5:30 p.m. Bands will play until 10 p.m.

Ironton Rail Trail hosts the 16th annual pediatric cancer 8-K run, 5-K walk and kids’ fun run 7 a.m. Sept. 13 at Saylor Park, 245 N. Second St.

Coplay Saengerbund’s heritage committee presents its annual Oktoberfest 2:30-6 p.m. Sept. 14. There will be imported German beers, authentic German food and more.

Music will be provided by Joe Kroboth Band. Join the Oktoberfest sing-along. The Auerhahn Schuhplattler Dancers and the Button Box Committee will also entertain.

Wear your German outfits, such as lederhosen, hats, vests and dirndl.

The event is open to the public. There is a cost.

The Wednesday night summer series at the Stephen J. Burker Memorial Gazebo, North Second and Chestnut streets, continues with Deal Duo Sept. 17 and The Castaway Band Sept. 24. The concerts are 6-9 p.m.

Classic Coplay aerobics is planning a fundraiser in honor of the late Donna DeLucia, the beloved aerobics instructor for 40 years. All money raised at the aerobics event, set for 7-8 p.m. Sept. 22, will be donated to the American Association for Cancer Research in her memory. The event will be held in the auditorium at borough hall, 98 S. Fourth St.

If you are unable to attend, you can support the effort by giving your donation at the borough office.

Regular classes are held 8:45 a.m. Saturdays and 7 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays. Bring dumbbells, a towel and a mat to enhance your workout.

There is a small cost by donation.

Coplay Garden Club will meet 7 p.m. Sept. 25 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 18 S. Third St. The club meets the last Thursday of the month.

Public works Director Paul Boyle announced brush/branch pickup will continue through Sept. 26.

Call the borough office to schedule pickups for sofas, mattresses (plastic encased), chairs, dressers or other large items. There is a limit of two per year at no charge.

Coplay pavilion rentals are now open through Oct. 31. Call the borough office for more information.

Coplay Social Hall, 165 Cherry St., is open for rentals for your special event. Call the borough office to reserve the hall.

Coplay Food Bank, located in the lower level of the municipal building, is open 8:30-10 a.m. the second Tuesday of every month.

If unable to attend the scheduled Tuesday morning time frame, call Jodi at 610-262-0928 to make other arrangements.

The food bank needs coffee, spaghetti sauce and noodles, canned pasta, rice pouches and non-sweetened dry cereals. Monetary donations are always accepted.
