Residents of Eighth Avenue during the Aug. 19 city council meeting protested that a developer purchased a single ranch home with plans to knock it down and replace it with a three-story, six-apartment building. They worry about the impact on the quality of life and safety in this area. Residents near the former “Bennett lot” are also concerned about a proposed apartment complex for that property.
Councilman Bryan Callahan questioned the progress of creating affordable housing and the former Martin Tower site.
Director of Community and Economic Development Laura Collins said conversations have continued between the city and developers. Further discussion regarding the wording of the Subdivision and Land Development Ordinances (SALDOs) and application followed.
Director of Water and Sewers Ed Boscola said smart meters and utility tracking applications are in development so residents can track their own meter usage.
