The school board met for its first meeting of the 2025-26 school year Aug. 25. The meeting started with recognition of an outstanding school board director.

Each year the Pennsylvania School Board Association (PSBA) recognizes outstanding school directors by naming them for the PSBA Honor Roll. This year, BASD Director Dr. Karen Beck-Pooley was recognized for her 10 years of service and dedication as a school director.

Representatives from Liberty and Freedom high schools shared each school’s enthusiasm for the start of school and various activities that are available for students to participate in.

Superintendent Dr. Jack Silva congratulated the board on converting their debt from a variable rate bond to a fixed rate bond.

The board is scheduled to reconvene Sept. 8
