Upper Lehigh Lions serve at football games

After a busy time during the summer with the craft show and two day “Roar” festival, the Upper Lehigh Lions are ready for a new season of fundraising events.

The Lions will have their food trailer set up at Parkland High School home football games. The first game will be Aug. 29 with Freedom and the next one Sept. 5 with Northampton. Food service begins 5:30 p.m. Hoagie sales will resume in October.

Union Lutheran Church, Schnecksville, invites the community to Bookfest in the Family Life Center 10 a.m. to noon Sept. 6 and 7. All books are free.

Organizers explain the event is an opportunity to redistribute books for more people to read and enjoy. There will also be some puzzles and other items to select.

Tickets are now available for the chicken barbecue 4-6:30 p.m. Sept. 13 at St. John’s United Church of Christ, 1415 Rising Sun Road, Laurys Station for eat in; 7 p.m. for take out. The meal will include half a chicken, baked potato, corn-on-the-cob, lettuce with bacon dressing, beverage and dessert.

A children’s option will have two drumsticks, macaroni and cheese, applesauce, cookie and beverage. Call 610-262-8061 for tickets and payment. Takeouts will not include a beverage.

St. John’s U.C.C. welcomes people in the community to Rally Day Sept. 7. Sunday School will resume 9 a.m. and church worship time will return to 10:15 a.m. for the new season which will continue to Memorial Day 2026.

Union United Church of Christ donated 300 boxes of cereal to the summer kid’s pack food distribution program at the Northern Lehigh Food Bank.

Twelve sponsoring churches donated items such as peanut butter, tuna, cookies, crackers, macaroni and cheese, soup and canned fruit which filled 150 bags given to children to help meet their needs during the summer.

Each pack included two boxes of cereal from Union U.C.C.
