SP CM pushes win streak to nine

It’s been over a month and counting since the South Parkland Senior Connie Mack team lost a game. The win streak continued with two wins last week, both on the road, to extend the win streak to nine in a row. The Trojans haven’t lost since an 8-5 setback on June 11.

South Parkland defeated Lower Macungie 7-4 last Wednesday night and then shutout FBTAA 11-0 in five innings two days later on Friday evening.

In the victory over the Mustangs, South Parkland opened the game with three runs in the top of the first inning on two RBI singles by Ben Taylor and Henry Morse, along with a defensive error. Lower Mac answered with two runs in the bottom half of the frame.

After two scoreless innings, the Trojans brought in two runs in the fourth, one in the fifth and another in the sixth to take a 7-2 advantage. The Mustangs tacked on two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning, but it didn’t matter much anymore since the game was already in hand.

South Parkland finished with 10 hits, led by two each from Morse, Brayden Zobel and Nolan Wampler with Morse tallying two RBIs. Taylor recorded a hit, an RBI and scored two runs, while each of Luke Habash, Brooks Wetherhold and Liam Gerhart all contributed a hit. Zobel also threw six innings to record the win on the mound.

In the win against FBTAA, South Parkland scored all 11 of its runs in the first four innings, bringing in four in the first, three in the second, three in the third and one in the fourth. There were 10 different players to score a run, including two by Habash and one each from Wampler, Morse, Jake Strobl, Gerhart, Zobel, Dylan Mitchell, Bishop Fritz, Nolan Parsell and Andrew Markowitz, who also led the team with two hits. Parsell, Mitchell, Zobel, Gerhart and Strobl all had a hit.

Shaye Wanamaker started and threw four innings, striking out eight to earn the win.

South Parkland is currently 14-3 overall and is tied for third place in the league standings.
