NP Connie Mack caps regular season
The North Parkland Senior Connie Mack team concluded its regular season last week with two games in a span of three days, all at home. The Buffaloes began the month of July with a double-digit win on the road at Wilson on July 2. But the season ended with back-to-back defeats last week.
North Parkland was defeated 7-4 in eight innings at home against Coplay last Thursday evening and then fell 3-1 to Emmaus two days later.
In the game against Coplay, the Buffaloes held two different leads throughout the game but entered the seventh inning tied. They brought in two runs in the bottom of the first inning via an RBI single by Royce Morabito and Jared Santilli racing home following a passed ball.
Coplay tied the score at 2-2 with two runs in the top of the second before Santilli gave his team the lead right back on an RBI sacrifice fly. The Buffs fell behind 4-3 in the top of the fifth before tying the game on a balk by Coplay’s pitcher. Three runs in the top of the eighth was too much for North Parkland to overcome.
Tyler Dietrich finished with half of his team’s six hits and Morabito, Max Vargas and Jordan Kuhns each came away with a hit.
In the matchup with the Hornets, once again the Buffaloes held an early lead, scoring a run in the bottom of the first inning as Dietrich came home on a passed ball for the game’s first run. But that was all the scoring they would do the rest of the way as Emmaus got on the scoreboard with three runs in the fourth inning on a defensive error.
Dietrich and Noah Ream both recorded a hit for North Parkland.
North Parkland is 5-10-1 overall and ranks 16th out of 23 teams in the league standings.
