George W. Riegel, 97, of Slatington, formerly of Flemington, N.J., died peacefully Aug. 22, 2025 at his residence. He was the husband of the late Stella (Slizewski) Riegel. Born in Pluckemin, N.J., he was the son of the late Wilgus C. and Ida Mae (Huff) Riegel.

He owned and operated Riegel Roofing in Flemington, N.J. for 30 years before retiring. He faithfully and honorably served his country in the U.S. Army during the Second World War. He was a member of the Slatington Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses.

He is survived by children, Susanne L. Stiller, of Slatington, James G. (Charlene), of Myerstown, Michael J. (Sandi), of Frenchtown, N.J.; siblings, Johnny, of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Carol Roggendorf, Ruth Hansen and Alice Bush, all of New Jersey; grandchildren, Sherry, Valerie, Patricia, Nathan, Matthew, Heather, Paul; many great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by a son, David M. and a daughter, Eunice M.

A memorial service will be held 3 p.m. Aug. 30 at the Heintzelman Funeral Home, Inc., 4906 Route 309, Schnecksville. No calling hours. A private graveside service will be held at Rosemont Cemetery, Rosemont, N.J. Online expressions of sympathy may be recorded at www.heintzelmancares.com.
