Apply for firefighter exam eligibility through Sept. 15

The City of Allentown is accepting applications for the firefighter written examination to establish the 2026 firefighter eligibility list.

Completed applications must be submitted by 4:30 p.m. Sept. 15.

Applicant requirements include:

•Be at least 18 years of age

•Be a U.S. citizen

•Have a valid driver’s license

•Have a high school diploma or equivalent

Applications are available online at www.allentownpa.gov/jobs.

Test details will be mailed to qualified applicants.

Applicants will take a written exam and are ranked on the eligibility list based on their score. Veterans receive an additional 10 points. In the event of a tie, rankings are determined by the time stamp of the application submission. Once the Allentown Civil Service Board establishes and certifies the list, it remains active for two years.
