Fullerton: Back-to-school event planned
St. John’s Lutheran Church in Whitehall and Holy Trinity Memorial Lutheran Church in Catasauqua will be cosponsoring a free back-to-school bash 4-6 p.m. Aug. 23 at St. John’s Lutheran, 835 Third St. People of all ages, but especially the families of young children returning to school, can enjoy hot dogs, pizza, ice cream, crafts, games, bubbles, free haircuts, back-to-school bingo and a cakewalk.
Anyone attending can bring school supplies for Steckel and Zephyr elementary schools.
The handicapped-accessible entrance to the social hall is off Cherry Alley.

Whitehall Active Community Center, 2301 Pine St., will be holding bingo 1 p.m. Aug. 24; doors open noon. Bingo will continue with tricky tray, 50/25/25 raffle, piggy number, lightning game and more. There will be refreshments available for purchase.
Bring a donation of a nonperishable food item, pet food or paper product (facial tissues, paper towels or toilet paper) for Whitehall Food Pantry and receive a strip of specials to be played on the first four specials.

St. John’s United Church of Christ, 575 Grape St., is having a pastie sale. You can choose from meat pasties, melts and fruit turnovers.
Prices vary; order forms can be found on the table in the lounge, in the August newsletter or on the church’s website under forms.
The deadline to order is Sept. 7, with pickup set for 6-8 p.m. Oct. 2 and 5 in Fox Hall. Checks made payable to St. John’s UCC must accompany all orders.
You can give orders to Carol Raszler or you can mail them to the church office.

The Whitehall High School Class of 1978 is hosting a 65th birthday celebration noon-7 p.m. Sept. 27 at the pavilion at Egypt Memorial Park, 4548 Main St. There is a cost, which includes hamburgers, hot dogs, snacks, water and music. Please bring a covered dish or dessert to share.
The event is BYOB with beer and wine only (no glass bottles).
