District News: New academic year begins Aug. 25

Welcome back to school for the 2025-26 academic year! Schools will open Aug. 25 throughout Northampton Area School District.

NASD will be closed Sept. 1 for Labor Day. Schools will be back in session Sept. 2.

Smile! Picture day for Northampton Area High School students will be Aug. 26 and 27. All students will have their pictures taken, but purchase is optional.

Northampton Area Middle School students will have their picture day Aug. 27.

NASD’s policy committee will meet in a public session 6-7 p.m. Sept. 2 in the library conference room at NAHS, 1619 Laubach Ave. Members of the community are welcome and encouraged to attend.

At 6:30 p.m. Sept. 8, there will be an NASD Board of Education meeting in the auditorium at NAHS. The community is welcome and encouraged to attend.

Meet the teacher nights are approaching. Come meet your child’s teacher and check out the classrooms. These events are very informative for parents/guardians to learn the expectations for the new school year.

• Lehigh Elementary School (for grades 1-5): 6-8 p.m. Sept. 2

• George Wolf Elementary School: 6-8 p.m. Sept. 3

• Northampton Borough Elementary School (grades 2-5): 6-8 p.m. Sept. 4

NASD will be offering optional Chromebook insurance for the 2025-26 school year.

The cost is $27.95 per student device and covers accidental damage, loss, theft and perils (such as fire or flood) and provides an extended warranty for one year. All claims and repairs are handled at the district level.

Reminder for NAHS students about parking: Those who are parking on the streets in Northampton, make sure not to park on streets where you need parking permits from the borough. It is possible your vehicle will be ticketed.
