The 44th annual Coplay Community Days celebration, set for Aug. 22-24, promises the same “party in the park” vibe — live entertainment, displays by local vendors and borough civic groups and food and drink favorites. Event hours are 5-10 p.m. Aug. 22, noon-10 p.m. Aug. 23 and noon-9 p.m. Aug. 24.
This year’s edition will begin with a special tribute to the life and legacy of the late Stephen J. Burker, borough mayor and all-around champion of all things Coplay.
The ceremony to honor Burker will kick off the weekend festival Aug. 22. Expected speakers include state Rep. Jeanne McNeill, D-133rd, and Michael Rauscher, of the local band Aardvarks. All attendees are invited to share a memory of Burker.
Community Days takes place at Saylor Park, Second and Keefer streets. Parking and admission are free. It will be held rain or shine.
Aardvarks will lead the lineup of bands, taking the stage 7-10 p.m. Aug. 22.
Aug. 23’s entertainment begins with Steel Creek, 12:30-3:30 p.m.; Rock Steady, 4-6 p.m.; and the Castaway Band, 7-10 p.m.
A craft fair is also planned for Aug. 23, noon-6 p.m.
On Aug. 24, Josef Kroboth will entertain 12:30-3:30 p.m., followed by Brian Dean Moore Band 6-9 p.m.
A magician and balloon artist will also be a part of the Aug. 24 schedule, performing 3:30-5:30 p.m.
A variety of food and drinks will be available for purchase. No outside coolers or food are permitted.
All proceeds will benefit local civic organizations.
