Having been at the same location for 30 years, commercial photographer and fine artist Hub Willson is closing his studio, located behind Tin Toy Works at 1321 N. 15th St., South Whitehall.
“I’m going to do location shoots and painting, plein air, every day,” says Willson. “I’m still writing and recording music.” He has several original songs on Spotify and Amazon Music. “I’ll do all three of those things until I fall over,” said the 75-year-old West Allentown resident.
Among those attending a recent weekend reception and sale were Luiz and Trixie Oliveira. Luiz, of ArtVideo Productions in Easton, formerly assisted Willson with his photography work is also an area musician.
Willson, a 1971 graduate of Kutztown University, began his successful 54-year career as a commercial and portrait photographer upon graduation when he traveled to Papua, New Guinea, as a photographer and illustrator for the Summer Institute of Linguistics. “They still had practicing headhunters at that point,” Willson recalls. “It was a pretty exciting place.”
