Wanderers falls in Region 2 tourney

The Wanderers run in the PA Region 2 tournament came to an end last week.

Quakertown eliminated The Wanderers in the double elimination tournament following a 15-3 defeat.

The club lost to eventual champion North Parkland 5-1 in their opener before bouncing back with a 4-0 win over Boyertown to capture their only win.

Things didn’t come together the way they needed to for the club in regions, but manager Paul Walsh has a young core returning next year with the hopes of making another run.

“As for regionals, I think you need that combination of timely hitting and a deep and consistent pitching staff,” said Walsh. “We lacked both at times in the tournament this year. Though, we are young, and I think the future is extremely bright. Our goal is always to win the league, but I think a regional championship is in reach too.”

Despite falling short, the summer was another successful campaign for the Wanderers, winning their third straight NORCO title.

It’s a run that Walsh is proud to see the club continue.

“This is my 16th year coaching in this great organization and each year I feel even more grateful for the opportunity to be a part of The Wanderers family,” said Walsh. “The Wanderers culture that the players, coaches, parents, and especially, The North End Wanderers Club has built over the years is one of the most special things of my life. In many ways, I don’t know what I would be without The Wanderers in my life.”
