LEHIGH VALLEY WEATHER

Summer hoop action ends

Parkland took home the league title in the Lehigh Valley Summer League to finally wrap up a busy summer schedule on the hardcourt.

The Trojans beat Nazareth 68-47 in the league semifinals and were set to play Northampton in the championship, but the K-Kids pulled out of the league finals because of a scheduling conflict with the A-Town Throwdown Tournament following a thunderstorm that moved games indoors from Cedar Beach.

Northampton beat Wilson West Lawn 67-59 to reach the championship.

In the small school championship, Salisbury beat Southern Lehigh 39-37 for the league title.

Parkland made a run to the A-Town Throwdown semifinals, but lost to Pocono Mountain West 48-47 in double overtime to stop them from going for their third championship this summer.

The Trojans did end up playing Northampton in the quarterfinals and came away with a 35-33 overtime win.

Malvern Prep ended up knocking off the Panthers in the finals by a 56-37 margin to win their championship from the event in the last four years.

In the JV championship, Emmaus nipped Liberty 38-35.
