Bolmer ready to take next step

With his senior season ahead, Manny Bolmer has plenty on his plate.

The Rough Riders wide receiver/safety realizes how he can be a major influence on the 2025 slate ahead.

“Summer football has been going great,” beamed Bolmer recently. “Our team has really progressed already since last summer. I can really tell, and so can our coaches.”

“One thing I learned from last year is that when our while team shows up for practice and lifts, the energy and overall pace is really enthusiastic and filled with great overall improvement.”

Under first-year head coach Joe Henrich, the Roughies went 3-8 overall, dropping their final eight games after a 3-0 start.

Bolmer led the team in receptions last season with 38 for 717 yards with eight touchdowns, and he rushed for 49 yards on 21 carries with a pair of touchdowns. Defensively, he was second on the team with 54 tackles, an interception, and a fumble recovery.

In spite of a strong season last year, Bolmer knows he needs to keep working.

“I am looking to mainly improve my blocking on offense,” stressed Bolmer. “But I am also looking to work on my defensive game by tackling better and becoming more aggressive.”

Bolmer also understands his stance.

“My role this year is to become more of a vocal player on defense and offense,” added Bolmer. “I also believe I will be looked at as a huge part of our offensive game, so I will continue to play hard every game and give my coaches and team 100 percent.

“I also want to become more of a role model for the younger guys.”

Henrich sees a big year ahead for his senior.

“Manny is a talented young man,” boasted Henrich. “he is quick, elusive, and has the ability to score any time he touches the ball.

“We are really excited to see him take the next step and be a dominant force.”

Like his coach, Bolmer expects the Roughies to make some noise this fall. They will open the season at Mahanoy Area Aug. 22.

“Our team has grown a bunch from last year,” said Bolmer. “We’re all looking forward for the season.”
