North Catasauqua: Punk rock concert is Aug. 1
Punk rock returns to small Town USA with the Punk Rock in the Park with The Clap and a special guest 7-10 p.m. Aug. 1 at North Catasauqua William J. Albert Memorial Park, 701 Grove St. The show is free, but attendees are asked to bring nonperishable food items for Catasauqua Area Food Bank.

Borough council’s Aug. 4 meeting has been canceled. Council will next meet Aug. 18 in the basement-level meeting room at borough hall, 1066 Fourth St.

The borough zoning hearing board Aug. 4 meeting has also been canceled and will be rescheduled. The special exception hearing and request for variances is for the property at 1001-1003 Second St. The intended improvement will propose a 20-resident sober living facility.

Presbyterian Church of Catasauqua, 210 Pine St., will hold its monthly food drive 10 a.m.-noon Aug. 8 in the church parking lot. Nonperishable food items will be accepted to benefit Catasauqua Area Food Bank. Drive through to donate your items, and church volunteers will help to unload your contributions.

Public Library of Catasauqua will be holding its annual yard sale 8 a.m.-1 p.m. Aug. 9 at Holy Trinity Memorial Lutheran Church, 604 Fourth St., Catasauqua. Shop from a big selection of household goods, home decor, clothing, accessories, jewelry, toys, collectibles, tools, sporting goods and more.
Those making a purchase will receive a ticket to return 1-1:30 p.m. to shop for bargain prices. Food and beverage will be available for purchase. All proceeds benefit the library.
If you wish to donate any items to the sale, Holy Trinity will be accepting donations for drop-off Aug. 3-7.

Join the walking tour of the Catasauqua Mansion Historic District to learn about the architectural style and the people who built them. The tour, sponsored by Historic Catasauqua Preservation Association, will be held 2 p.m. Aug. 10.
Participants should meet at Second and Pine streets, where the tour begins. There is a cost, with all proceeds going to maintain HCPA’s historic buildings.

St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 122 Union St., Catasauqua, will hold its Sizzlin’ Summer cash bingo Aug. 17 in the parish center. The doors and kitchen will open 11:30 a.m., with bingo beginning 1 p.m. There is a cost, which includes 15 games, six specials and one jackpot round.
No outside food or drinks are permitted. The kitchen will be selling your favorites.

Presbyterian Church of Catasauqua is holding its next free community lunch from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Aug. 18. The free community lunch is given out to folks in the community with food insecurity or those who could use a helping hand.
The church is also accepting donations for the Roughie Pantry. The pantry is set up to “love our school-aged neighbors.” The pantry is currently accepting shampoo, deodorant, toothpaste, toothbrushes, soap, body wash, tampons, sanitary napkins, etc. Collection bins are located at the church entrances.

Catasauqua Community Thrift Shop, 113 Bridge St., is holding a half-price, back-to-school sale for the month of August.
Regular store hours are 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays and 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Wednesdays and Saturdays.

The Catasauqua and North Catasauqua J4 Committee is looking for new members and volunteers to help organize the community celebration of our country’s 250th anniversary, which will occur in 2026. Holy Trinity Memorial Lutheran Church will hold a mystery dinner theater night Sept. 13 at the church. The “Golden Girls” Murder Mystery event begins 5:30 p.m. with a night of fun, felony and fellowship.
Dinner will consist of herb-roasted chicken breast, roasted herb potatoes, salad, dessert and beverages. There is a cost.

Catasauqua Area Food Bank, 527 Front St., is accepting donations of pasta, cereal, soup, rice, stuffing, instant potatoes, granola bars and peanut butter crackers. Donations may be dropped off during open hours, 3-4 p.m. Wednesdays and Fridays. Monetary donations are also accepted.
