Catasauqua Community Thrift Shop, 113 Bridge St., is having a half-price, back-to-school sale on everything in the shop from Aug. 1 to Aug. 30. Store hours are 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays and 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Wednesdays and Saturdays.
Shop volunteers are happy to accept donations of good, used, clean clothing, household items and toys during store hours. Proceeds from the thrift shop are returned to the community through contributions that support youth and adult programs and services.

The summer concert series will continue Aug. 1 with The Big Wahu Caribbean Band performing 7-10 p.m. at the Catasauqua Park and Playground amphitheater, 501 American St.
Bring your lawn chair and/or blanket, and settle in for a fun, musical night in the park.

Catasauqua Garden Club will meet 1 p.m. Aug. 6 at Slovak Center Social Club, 1233 Fifth St., North Catasauqua.
Tom Lindeman, beekeeper and Xerces Society member, will serve as the keynote speaker. Lindeman’s business card lists him as the man to call about honeybee swarm removal.
Club members will display artistic design and horticultural exhibits for judging. Interesting gardening discussions are most common and enlightening at the meetings.
Curious, garden-friendly visitors are always welcome.
