Beat the heat

Borough holds water aerobics

One of the best parts of summer is visiting the local pool to cool off from the heat. The summer season is sliding on by, and if you haven’t yet gotten to the Northampton Borough Municipal Pool, located at 1599 Laubach Ave., time is running out.

The pool’s current hours of operation are noon-7 p.m. every day.

Daily rates for both residents and nonresidents are $8 for ages 6-18 and $10 for ages 19-65. Starting 5:30 p.m., the fee will be $4 for ages 6-18 and $5 for ages 19-65. Children 5 and younger and adults 66 and older are free of charge.

Cash and checks are accepted to purchase a daily pass.

Season passes are available for purchase at the Northampton Recreation Center, 1 Lerchenmiller Drive, and include the following: $75 for residents and $100 for nonresidents for ages 6-18 and $100 for residents and $125 for nonresidents for ages 19-65. A family pass is $200 for residents and $250 for nonresidents; the children’s age is limited to 18 and under and includes up to four people, with a maximum of two adults. For each additional child, it is $15.

The borough has scheduled water aerobics classes to combine swim time, exercise and fun. Classes are held 5:45-6:45 p.m. Mondays through Aug. 11. The cost is $5 and is pay as you go. If it rains on a Monday, the class will occur the next day, Tuesday. If it also rains Tuesday, the class is canceled for that week and will resume the following Monday.

The pool also has a concession stand with tasty food and refreshing drinks, with only cash as the acceptable form of payment.

The last day the pool will be open for the 2025 season is Aug. 16, so head over to cool off and have fun. It’s hot out there!
