Larry Lee Hilbert, 73 of Emmaus, formerly of Whitehall, died unexpectedly with his wife by his side July 23, 2025, at Lehigh Valley Hospital — Cedar Crest Campus, Salisbury Township. Born in Allentown, he was the son of the late Robert P. Hilbert and the late Erma E. (Oplinger) Hilbert.
He was the husband of Patricia (Nush) Hilbert with whom he would have shared 47 years of marriage Aug. 5.
He was a 1972 graduate of Whitehall High School and pursued a career as an auto mechanic for various stations throughout the greater Lehigh Valley for more than 20 years, last caring for customers autos at A&E Auto Service Center, Allentown, retiring in 2018. After retiring, he worked part-time for Weis Markets, Schnecksville, as a stock associate.
He was an antique car enthusiast especially toward Chevrolets. He also enjoyed trains of all kinds, traditional country music and recycling of metal.
He served his country in the U.S. Army as a SP/4 during the Vietnam War.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a sister, Donna M. Kogler and her husband, James, of Spring Hill, Fla.
A graveside service with military honors will be held privately for family.
