LEHIGH VALLEY WEATHER

Western Lehigh Services land development approved

At the July 17 Lower Macungie Township Board of Commissioners meeting, the Western Lehigh Services Development at 1500 Trexlertown Road was approved. This property is located between Valley View Estates Mobile Home Park, woods and a single family home to the south and the Spring Creek to the west.

The property was an old farmstead. Preservation of some of the farmstead structures is part of the agreement.

There will be landscaping buffers particularly between the property and the trailer park. Trees and other natural landscaping items will be used along Trexlertown Road. Dark sky lighting is to be used.

The development includes a truck garage, office, pavilion, tool storage building and salt storage shed. The development will use public water and sewer. There will be two driveways.

Storage of various items such as fertilizer, oil and other items will be limited due to the floodplain status.

Township Manager Bruce Beitel will seek a Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development multimodal grant for Brookside and Princeton roads for a pedestrian crossing. The address is 3500 Brookside Road. The commissioners approved this.

A bid award was made for the Kratzer Farm Walking Trail and Fishing Pier. Construction Masters from Trevose made the low bid of $540,676.

Shel Dietz was appointed to the environmental advisory council with the term expiring Jan. 1, 2026.

Two appointments were made to the audit advisory committee. Matthew Guglielmello and Brianne Santarelli were appointed to fill vacancies with terms expiring January 2028.

There was an executive session held regarding personnel issues.
