July 24

The Jewish Community Center, 702 N. 22nd St., Allentown, will host “Call For Hess’s Memories: Q&A with The Patio Podcast Creator Kate Kareha,” 11:30 a.m. Join Kareha, on a wistful exploration of her hometown’s enduring attachment to the Hess Department Store, as guests will be asked to share their own Hess’s story. No memory is too big or small!

Following her presentation, Kareha will put out a call for memories for those in attendance to share their own stories and memories about Hess’s that she may use for an episode of her podcast. “Preserving Hess’s History Through the ART of Conversation” is a 2025 Allentown Arts & Culture Project Grant recipient, made possible by the Lehigh Valley Arts & Cultural Alliance. Seniors are invited to attend weekly pinochle and bingo games, sponsored by the Cetronia Senior Club. They meet 12:15 p.m. every Thursday at Cedar Church, 3419 Broadway in Cetronia. Light refreshments are available. Come out for a fun time; all are welcome. There is a small weekly fee to attend.

July 25

Upper Lehigh Lions 47th annual “Roar with the Lions” Festival, Neffs Union Church Grove, Neffs. The festival begins with refreshment stands opening in the grove 5 p.m. Midnight Special will entertain 7-10 p.m.

July 26

St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran, 1028 Church St., Fogelsville, will hold its Vacation Bible School Day 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Join them on the “Rocky Railway” for a one-day program filled with stories, games, music, crafts, lunch and more. All are welcome to attend. Students ages 5-12 may participate, teens may volunteer to be helpers.

The Large Flowerheads will perform at the Upper Lehigh Lions 47th annual “Roar with the Lions” Festival 7-10 p.m., Neffs Union Church Grove, Neffs. There will be a bake sale and ticket raffle. Refreshments served from 5 p.m.

The Upper Lehigh Historical Society will host a flea market at the Schneck House 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. The rain date is July 27. The Schneck House, a log structure, is located along Route 873 across from McDonald’s in Schnecksville. Vendors should bring their own tables. There is a charge. Proceeds will benefit the Upper Lehigh Historical Society which is the steward of the Schneck House. Funds will be used for upkeep of the building. Some imminent repairs are needed to fix damage caused by what was reported to be a red squirrel.

July 28-Aug. 1

Upper Macungie Township’s “Claws, Codes and Constellations” Mad Science five-day summer camp for kids ages 6-12 will take place 9 a.m. to noon at Lone Lane Park, 30 Lone Lane. Campers will discover how to send secret messages to their friends. They’ll follow a scent trail and become young astronauts as they learn about the mysteries of the solar system.
