Hanover announces next movie event
During the July 16 Hanover Township, Lehigh County, Council meeting, township Manager Melissa Wehr announced the next movie in the township’s summer movies in the park program is “Bernie the Dolphin,” a Grindstone Entertainment Group and Digital Caviar production released in 2018 and distributed by Lionsgate Films. It is a family-friendly movie about the entertaining and dramatic exploits of Bernie, a dolphin. It is considered a Canadian adventure drama film.
“Bernie the Dolphin” is planned for viewing July 25 at Sherwood Park, 1915 Sherwood St., Allentown. Admission is free, and the movie starts at dusk. The movie is sponsored by the Lehigh Valley International Airport.
Wehr recommends attendees bring a chair and blankets to be as comfortable as possible to view “Bernie the Dolphin.” Visit hanleco.org for information about the movie.
In other business, council approved a motion to extend the garbage/recycling contract with JP Mascaro for one year.
Council held a public hearing and approved bill 2025-26, increasing the indebtedness of the township to issue a general obligation note in the amount of $508,706.82 for sundry purposes. In a legal context, sundry purposes means separate, various and diverse items.
Council authorized the township manager to end the maintenance period, release the maintenance security in the amount of $259,932.56 to close out the project for the A Duie Pyle warehouse land development project, 450 Lloyd St., Allentown, and the maintenance security in the amount of $173,024.85 and close out the project for the 1960 Weaversville Road land development project, 1960 Weaversville Road, Allentown. Both are conditioned upon the applicants paying outstanding township invoices.
A video surveillance equipment maintenance and support services proposal was denied by a council vote.
Council approved the township bills through July 16.
