Claire W. Emig
Claire W. Emig, 95, formerly of Whitehall, died July 15, 2025, at Cedarbrook Senior Care, Allentown. She was the wife of the late George J. Emig.
Born in Philadelphia, she was a daughter of the late John and Anne (Hasson) Weeks.
She began her career as a teacher at Our Lady Help of Christians, where she taught for seven years. She went on to serve as the director of religious education at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Stiles for 13 years.
She was a devoted parishioner of St. John’s church, volunteering in numerous roles, including lector and Eucharistic minister, for more than 30 years.
She also volunteered with the diocese department of education and the Speakers Bureau of the Catholic Social Agency. She was deeply involved with the Girl Scouts, dedicating more than 25 years to the former Great Valley Girl Scouts Council (now Girl Scouts of Eastern Pennsylvania), where she held various leadership roles and was honored with the prestigious “Thanks Badge” in 1987.
She is survived by 10 children, Edward, Michael and wife Nancy, Frank and wife Cathy, Anne and husband Ming Wan, Dorothy, Mary McNulty and husband Kevin, Catherine Rothrock and husband Thomas, Patricia, Regina Mayberry and husband Stephen and Theresa; 27 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a daughter-in-law, MJ; two brothers, Robert and John; and a sister, Marie.
There will be a calling time 9-10:15 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian burial starting 10:30 a.m., July 25 at the church, 3024 S. Ruch St., Whitehall.
