Silberman earns third All-Landmark nod

Moravian University junior catcher Marcie Silberman, while a powerful and talented hitter for the Greyhounds, understood that her power would only get her so far at the collegiate level.

After her freshman season at Moravian, the former Salisbury graduate had a conversation with head coach Josh Baltz that catapulted her sophomore and junior seasons to another level.

“One thing Coach Baltz told me after my exit meeting my freshman year was that teams now know me, so I need to be smarter in the box, have a clear approach and adjust with each pitch,” Silberman said. “I have become more aggressive and attacked early in counts, while working counts at other times.”

Silberman, a Salisbury Township High School graduate, paced the Greyhounds’ offense by leading the team in hits (59), RBIs (53) and home runs (16) in 2025 on the way to Moravian’s (40-9 overall; 13-3 in Landmark Conference) run to the NCAA Division III Super Regional.

It was the second straight season that Silberman hit 16 home runs after posting six in her freshman season at Moravian. She’s also hit .348 in each of her first two seasons, while posting a team third-best .376 average this past spring.

She earned her third selection to the Landmark Conference First Team in 2025.

“The season as a whole was a success,” Silberman said. “We had a lot of personal and team goals met, many records broken and a good record overall. We definitely had our moments where we didn’t shine, but we always found ways to win and continue to push through the challenging moments. It was very exciting to host regionals again, and even more exciting to host super regionals for the first time at Moravian.”

While Moravian players were certainly disappointed with their setback in the super regional against Randolph-Macon College — losing the series 2-1— the Greyhounds were able to make history by hosting a super regional game for the first time.

After dropping the first game of the series against No. 24 Randolph-Macon, 5-0, Moravian evened the series with a 10-5 victory in the second game of a doubleheader on May 23. Silberman went 2-for-5 in the game with two RBIs. The Greyhounds’ season, however, came to an end the following day via a 1-0 loss.

“We had a great group of freshmen this past season that contributed in so many ways,” Silberman said. “Looking back on the fall season and early spring, I could feel that we had a strong team and we would make a good run during the postseason…We had a team that just clicked, and we were able to string things together to give us a good run up until the super regional.”

Moravian won the Landmark Conference Championship in 2025 as well, defeating The Catholic University of America in the title game. The Greyhounds, who finished the season ranked No. 12 in the National Fastpitch Coaches Association/GoRout Division III Poll, won the NCAA Division III Regional by defeating Eastern University.

With high hopes again for her final college season, Silberman’s focus is on consistency and fine-tuning her skills over the next few months.

“During this offseason I plan to continue lifting and practicing to keep myself ready to go for our brief fall season,” Silberman said. “I want to maintain the consistency I had this past season, and hopefully produce a little more to help my team score more runs.”

Silberman was also selected to the 2025 National Fastpitch Coaches Association Division III All-Region V First Team.
