Salisbury CM team falls to Coplay, Emmaus

The Salisbury Senior Connie Mack baseball team was on the wrong end of both of its games last week as its losing streak reached three games.

The Falcons fell 5-2 at home against Coplay last Wednesday and then came up one run short in a 3-2 defeat in nine innings on the road at Emmaus on Saturday.

In the game with Coplay, Salisbury scored the game’s first run in the bottom of the first inning on a sacrifice fly by Hunter Kotarski, who had both RBIs in the game, to go ahead early.

Coplay responded with three runs in the top of the second inning and another in the third to go up 4-1. It put the game out of reach with a six-run fifth inning after the Falcons tacked on one in the fourth.

Kotarski went 2-for-4 with two RBIs and scored a run. Tanner Kuder was 2-for-3 and both Logan Kao and Brady Brinker recorded a hit and a run scored. Cooper Dickert and Tallon Liggit touched home plate once.

Just as it did in the game prior, Salisbury took the game’s first lead with a run in the top of the first inning on a Kotarski RBI single that brought around Brinker. The Hornets answered with two runs in the bottom-half of the frame to take their first lead at 2-1, and then the Falcons tied it up with another run in the second with a Brinker run-scoring single.

Following six scoreless innings that took the game into extras, Emmaus walked it off on its home field with a single to center field.

Salisbury finished with four hits, with two by Brinker, who also had an RBI and a run scored. Kotarski tallied a hit and an RBI and Gavin Kotarski notched a hit and scored a run.

Salisbury is 1-11 overall and sits third to last out of 21 teams in the league standings with the regular season scheduled to end this week.
