Board members at Allentown Area Ecumenical Food Bank are actively involved in both leadership and service. Key responsibilities include strategic planning, budgeting and fiduciary oversight, policy development, and resource generation. Members may also be asked to volunteer at the food bank and support special events. Wherever your expertise lies we would be glad to connect with you. Minimum age to volunteer is 22. Help prepare flooring for painting in Bethlehem Emergency Shelter dorm rooms 9 a.m. to noon July 16 and/or July 23. Volunteers will be asked to scrape up particle boarding, remove nails and sand down troublesome spots. Tools will be provided, but volunteers are welcome to bring their own. Grace Community Foundation food bank in Allentown is looking for strong and dependable people to help unload the delivery truck 8:30-11 a.m. on the first and third Thursdays of the month and help setup Friday’s food distribution. Volunteer to assist residents in getting to in-house clinic appointments at Gracedale Nursing Home, Nazareth, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. This may involve pushing residents in wheelchairs, Broda chairs or simply walking alongside a resident and engaging in conversation while making sure they arrive to the clinic area safely. Do you like food, fun and festivities? Join Historic Bethlehem Museums & Sites for the sweetest treat of the summer – Blueberry Festival! We are looking for volunteers to help in many capacities, including setup beginning July 17; Market To Go, 2:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. July 18; assisting with children’s activities, serving pie, the tasting tent and admissions during the festival hours July 19 and 20 and cleanup 6-9 p.m. July 20. The Salvation Army, Allentown, is currently seeking enthusiastic volunteers to help support our Stuff the Bus campaign by handing out flyers at Walmart in Allentown and Whitehall Aug. 2 and 9 and encouraging customers to purchase school supplies for local students in need. A Primary Care Community is a group of about five volunteer families who come alongside one specific family to help meet physical, financial, spiritual and emotional needs. The Salvation Army Foster Care & Adoption Services needs volunteers to commit to serving from 6 months up to 24 months with their specific family. Wilson Area LINCS Family Center is excited to host a Touch a Truck and Community Resource Fair featuring a backpack and school supplies giveaway 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Aug. 10, at Wilson Area High School, Easton. Volunteers will also distribute water to vendors and volunteers, hand out tickets at the gate, register people for door prizes, assist with set up and breakdown, etc. Minimum age to volunteer is 14 with adult.
