Public Library of Catasauqua: Minecraft Club to meet July 26 at Public Library of Catasauqua

This summer, the Public Library of Catasauqua started a Minecraft Club for ages 8-18. The next session will be 11 a.m. July 26. At this session, we will combine playing the game with a showing of “A Minecraft Movie.”

It’s free, and no prior experience is necessary. Those with their own accounts and portable devices are invited to stop by and join the group fun on the shared server.

An expert will be on hand to teach and help troubleshoot, and the library has purchased a few accounts for newcomers to the game. Players might have to take turns if there are more patrons than accounts.

***

The library’s free summer reading and fun program is going strong. Kids and their caregivers can stop by for stories and crafts in our auditorium 3 p.m. every Thursday.

The last day for the program is July 31. Stop in for a calendar of events for the summer program, or give us a call for more information.

***

Our adult book club is reading “Northern Spy” by Flynn Berry, and members will be discussing it 3 p.m. Aug. 6. Stop by to take part and/or help pick the next selection.

If you need help getting a copy of the book, call or stop by for assistance.

***

The library is still taking surveys of your opinions on books versus movies. If you fill out our three-question form, you will also be entered into a raffle for a small prize.

Our display of books, with their accompanying DVDs, is in the center of the library. The surveys are at the circulation desk.

***

The Keep Them in Stitches fiber arts group meets 5:30 p.m. Mondays.

***

Our MakerSpace crafting center is always available for your creative endeavors.

***

Our selection of new titles changes every two weeks, so stop in to check out what’s available on our new books display at the front of the library. As always, we can get thousands of other items from dozens of other regional libraries in a matter of a day or so. Come in, call or check out our catalog online. We’ll help you any way we can.

If you want to suggest a book for us to purchase for the library community, don’t hesitate to talk to us or send us an email at catasauquapl@cliu.org.
