Fourth of July rock performance
The weather fully cooperated July 4 to create a nice evening for the summer concert series at Catasauqua Park and Playground, 501 American St.
The Weekenders entertained with their brand of rock music. A number of attendees approached the outdoor band shell to dance up close to the music.
The Weekenders are a group of veteran musicians from the Lehigh Valley who are “playing your favorite end-of-the-week music.” The band includes Mark Prestifilippo on vocals and acoustic guitar, Molly Herman on vocals, Wade Stoneback on keyboard, Todd Leibenguth on drums, Joe Harvey on bass and Kristofer Ewaniuk on guitar.
They entertain at a variety of events including concerts, weddings, business events and meetings or any social gathering. Visit the weekendersrock.com for more information or to book them for an event.
The attendance grew as the evening went on, with people sitting in the main lawn area in front of the band shell, up to American Street and down by the former Catasauqua swimming pool, creating an outdoor stadium feeling.
Girl Scout Troop 6138, from First Presbyterian Church of Catasauqua, had a tent set up to sell Girl Scout Cookies. Scout leader Jacki Nattress, of Catasauqua, and Cadet Scout Olivia Spangler, of Whitehall, cheerfully offered the cookies for sale.
Lucas and Anna, of Catasauqua, had fun rolling down a bank playing while their mother, Tara, kept an eye on them as she enjoyed the popular music.
Catasauqua started the day with a July 4 celebration at the historic George Taylor House on Front Street, followed by the nice evening of music at the park. As the evening went on, one could hear increasing backyard fireworks.
