LEHIGH VALLEY WEATHER

There is much to do in the Lehigh Valley this summer

The dog days of summer are upon us and if you are searching for free or low cost family-centered activities why not check out a local library. Allentown Public Library cards are free for Salisbury Township residents who show proof of residency.

A library card gives access to library branches close to you and there are tons of activities for kids, teens and adults.

Activities include music, movies, art, technology, STEM, reading clubs, story times, teen podcasting – the list is endless! Check the website of the library closest to you and enjoy all your local library has to offer.

Did you know Home Depot offers free in-store kid’s workshops on the first Saturday of every month? Kits, tools and a nifty orange apron are provided with instructions to build planes, birdhouses, games and holiday centered projects. Don’t worry if you are all thumbs, there is always someone on hand to help you whenever you have questions – after all it is Home Depot! Check the store website to register online.

Jerusalem Western Salisbury Church will hold a Christmas in July Craft and Vendor Fair 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 26 sponsored by the Ladies Aid Society. Enjoy local crafts/vendors and a bake sale.

If you enjoy a walk in the woods, navigating waterways by boat or are a budding conservationist, the Wildland’s Conservancy events calendar lists many activities for the whole family to enjoy as well as opportunities to volunteer in an effort to keep our streams and trails healthy. Check out the website at www.wildlandspa.org.

The township yard waste drop-off sites are open. The Devonshire site will be open July 10 and 12 and the Franko drop-off site will be open July 14, 17 and 19. Hours of operation are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays and Thursdays and 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays.
